<image:caption>For it's meetings DGT Alumni Association is taking steps to make better use of technology. In recent years, members have logged on from their homes in CA, FL, HI, NJ, upstate NY, and Japan. Efforts are made and often met to limit meeting time to 90 minutes. A new Smart TV serves as a projection screen limiting the need for printing reports and other documents.</image:caption>

<image:title>Home - Robin Hartmann</image:title>
<image:caption>Robin Hartmann (BFA, 1978) Following graduation from Pratt Hartmann worked in the theatre industry creating and building costumes for many of the Broadway shows of the 1980’s (A Chorus Line, The Wiz, Pippin). She soon found herself working among frogs, bears, and pigs at Jim Henson’s Muppets. For 5 years, she helped pin, stitch, design and create the puppets, costumes, and sometimes props that delighted children and adults alike. Some projects included Sesame Street, Fraggle Rock, various Muppet movies and TV specials. Upon leaving The Muppets, Robin worked as a wardrobe assistant for a season on Saturday Night Live (1985). She then became interested in toy design, and relocated to Cincinnati to work as a designer for Kenner Toys. Robin has worked on many successful projects while in Cincinnati, including working on toy development for Kenner, Hasbro, Gibson Greetings, Empire toys, and Idea Development. Hartmann has also worked on feature films, including 'A Rage in Harlem,' and 'The Shawshank Redemption.' Her accomplishments also include designing costumes and puppets for The Cincinnati Museum Center, The Dallas Children’s Museum, Artworks, and The Smithsonian Institution. The creations Hartmann is most proud of are her children, Rory and Leah. Robin is currently freelancing, and teaching art at The New School in North Avondale, Cincinnati.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Carl Saieva (B.S. Chemistry & B.E. Industrial Engineering’78) is president of Sartek Industries, Inc., which designs and manufactures CCTV, Thermal Imaging, Underwater Video and Lighting Systems, Technical dive equipment, and customized equipment for commercial, educational, and military applications. He is the holder of six US Patents. He is also a Master Scuba Diving Instructor, Technical Diving Instructor, and a Certified Cave and Science Diver. Carl’s latest invention, the Safeaire™ Filtration System (patent pending) can be used in conjunction with other filter media such as UVC, Activated Carbon, MERV filters to create the most effective system for the facility being protected. The Sartek SafeAire Filter was tested by a certified laboratory, installed on a PTAC running at 350CFM. The bare filter (no pre-filter or other filters) eliminated 99.9% of a test virus PHI X174, in a 1000 cubic foot chamber, in under 2 hours. The Sartek SafeAire filter performed this task with less than a 4% reduction of airflow! Visit the Sartek, Ind. website at www.sartek.com.</image:caption>

<image:title>Fall'16 Program - BETWEEN SENSES</image:title>
<image:caption>According to World Health Organization, unintentional poisonings and toxins kill an estimated 355,000 people globally each year. People inevitably absorb dangerous toxins. Toxic substances one can hardly see, smell, hear, touch or taste have subtly merged into our daily necessities: food, water, clothes and beauty products. Those affected may not understand how our senses can be influenced by such exposure both physically and emotionally. Gallery House Fellows of Fall 2016 are curating an exhibition Between Senses, which includes works that give tangible forms of the idea of senses by taking a visitor on a toxic free sensory journey through carefully selected and curated works of art and designs. Original works will be raffled off and auctioned to benefit the Brooklyn Fashion and Design Accelerator (visit http://bkaccelerator.com/ ) and MiA Collective Art (visit http://www.miacollectiveart.com/), both New York-based organizations that support designers, artists, and entrepreneurs to inspire positive impact in the world.</image:caption>

<image:title>Fall'17 Program - YESTERDAY'S TOMORROW</image:title>
<image:caption>In a rapidly advancing world, fueled by the onset of artificial intelligence (AI) and an increasing dependency on technology, the implications of progress are inevitable. Futurist ideals and science fiction are becoming difficult to distinguish from reality, and the direct consequences are manifested in the process of human interactions, learning, and thought itself. Gallery House Fellows of Fall 2017 are curating an exhibition Yesterday’s Tomorrow which includes works that offer an experiential exploration of the implications of rapidly developing technology within contemporary society on various groups. The exhibition will embrace a wide variety of media, including installations and video and film as well as more traditional media of painting and sculpture. Original works will be raffled off and auctioned to benefit the Children’s Art Guild (https://www.childrensartsguild.org), a New York City based organization determined to help children transcend expectations and disadvantages in order to explore and develop their creativity and artistic drives through education.</image:caption>

<image:caption>“Masks of Courage: Defining True Identity” an exhibition to honor the brave work of Natalia, her Foundation and supporters to heal scares, and to promote and protect the human rights of victims of chemical attacks, globally. The exhibition will take the viewers through a journey that separates the sense of self worth from external attributes of identity, to ultimately confront them to the reality acid attack victims’ experience. The show challenges the collection of attributes that defines how we see ourselves, and how others perceive us. Our face, body, language, relationships, what we wear, like and own, paints an image of who we are. But what happens when we take those things away? Who are we then? The art curetted for the exhibition will be raffled, auction and sold, with all profits of the sales to go to the Natalia Ponce de León Foundation.</image:caption>

<image:caption>This exhibition showcases work by trans, working class, and other marginalized queer artists and performers of the LGBTQAPI+ community. In that spirit we are delighted to work with QDEP, whose goal is to create a world where Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, queer, Two Spirit, Trans, Gender Non- Conforming, and HIV+ detainees/undocumented/immigrant folks can pursue what their own vision and dreams of success is in their lives without fear of structural violence or violence due to their race, status, sexual orientation and or Gender Identity/Gender Expression. Two receptions will be held, during which, original works will be raffled off with the proceeds donated to QDEP (The Queer Detainee Empowerment Project). </image:caption>

<image:caption>The Queer Detainee Empowerment Project assists folks coming out of immigration detention in securing structural, health/wellness, educational, legal, and emotional support and services. We work to organize around the structural barriers and state violence that LGBTQI detainee/undocumented folks face related to their immigration status, race, sexuality, and gender expression/ identity. We are committed to assisting folks in building lives outside of detention, to breaking down the barriers that prevent folks from building fulfilling and strong lives, and to keeping queer families together by demanding an end to deportations/ detention/ policing. We believe in creating a narrative of thriving, not just surviving. QDEP works to create a world where Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, queer, Two Spirit, Trans, Gender Non- Conforming, and HIV+ detainees/undocumented/immigrant folks can pursue what their own vision and dreams of success is in their lives without fear of structural violence or violence due to their race, status, sexual orientation and or Gender Identity/Gender Expression.</image:caption>

<image:title>Spring'18 Program - KNOWING ME, KNOWING YOU</image:title>
<image:caption>KNOWING ME, KNOWING YOU The Gallery House Fellows of Spring 2018 are curating an exhibition Knowing Me Knowing You that explores the identities, perspectives, and personal experiences of young creators. It is an intimate look at narrative-based artwork complemented by journal-like entries, sketches, progress logs, and photographs. Some artists are presenting singular works, and others are showing a collection of finished pieces surrounded by the evidence of their thoughts and creative processes, as manipulated by the world around them. All artists being displayed, however, are under thirty years old and have their entire careers ahead of them. Join us for a glimpse of the current generation. The exhibition will embrace a wide variety of media, including paintings, drawings, photography, sculpture, and mixed media. Original works will be raffled off and auctioned to benefit the Children’s Art Guild (https://www.childrensartsguild.org), a New York City based organization determined to help children transcend expectations and disadvantages in order to explore and develop their creativity and artistic drives through education. Take a peek at the motives of painters, photographers, writers, poets, filmmakers, draftsmen and women, and all other people of creative ambition. Discover those who escape reality for an alternative motive and those who curiously indulge with all its grandeur. Judge those as romantics and cynics, but then dissect the intention within their muse. Some are childlike spirits, and others may appear to the contrary. Explore all the unique complications of individual identity - and think to yourself; What are the subtleties of your character? What makes you tick? What angers you, excites you, aggravates, and then quickly drains you? What has facilitated your creative expression, and what has hindered your growth? Compare that to the culmination of artwork on our wall, then judge as you may... for everyone has a unique story to tell.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Yejin Ha is from Chang-won, South Korea. She is a second-year photography major at Pratt Institute. She is interested in conceptual arts as she thinks that art is a medium to convey thoughts and concepts that she has. Most of her works are based on her identity such as emotion and background. Ji Min Hwang is from Seoul, South Korea. She is a fourth-year illustration major at Pratt Institute. She believes that emotion, hardship and memories are the essential elements of life. Her work consistently revisits past memories to recreate emotion that evoke empathy. She wishes to share her theory with the audience through art—the importance of the coexistence of happiness and sadness. Samuel DiBiase, from Minersville, PA, is a visual artist studying his B.F.A. at Pratt Institute. Influenced by classic illustration and nineteenth century French and American art, he strives for relatable and immersive senses of narrative. He primarily works in dry-based medium that then translates into oil paint for finished pieces. His aspirations lie in the education system, while focusing on displaying work as an independent artist.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Jon Levy "My 'Noise' series has very little to do with sound. 'Noise' is the unfathomable. When we look at a person, we see them as a singular entity. We do not take into consideration the countless number of particles that make up their body. Instead, we only see the surface. 'Noise' is the information too great for the human mind to grasp." <image:title>Portfolios - Alan Rand (Copy)</image:title>
<image:caption>Alan Rand Alan Rand (Architecture, 1976) has become well known for photographing up and coming Rock'n'Roll performers in the New York/New Jersey Metropolitan area. There are bands who can say he's photographed them at their first show. Alan has photographed veteran performers such as Dead Boys' Cheetah Chrome, The Heartbreakers' Walter Lure and Billy Rath and New York Dolls' Sylvain Sylvain as well. As cameras have gotten better in low light, Alan has been at the forefront of available light photography in rock clubs. He eschews using a flash in order to get the raw feeling of a musical performance. His philosophy is to shoot from an audience perspective to capture as close as possible the feeling of being at a concert. Originally learning to print in a darkroom, he was taught to print with a full tonal range. Both Alan's color and black and white digital photos have the same attention to detail bringing out the dynamic and tonal range in a photo. View additional photography by Alan Rand.</image:caption>
